Celebrating 25 Years of Empowering People With Breast Cancer
Twenty-five years ago, we set out to create something that didn't exist — a trusted, comprehensive resource where people facing breast cancer could find expert medical information, connect with others facing similar experiences, and feel empowered to make informed decisions about their care. What began as a vision to fill critical gaps in patient education and support has grown into a global lifeline that millions of people depend on during their most challenging times.
Our reach has expanded far beyond what we ever imagined possible, touching lives around the world, yet our vision remains unwavering: to transform lives through compassionate, personalized breast cancer care. Building on our legacy of medical expertise, global reach, and the trust of millions, we're shaping a future where every person impacted by breast cancer receives the best care and support they deserve.
As we celebrate the remarkable milestone of our 25th anniversary, we reflect on the power of community — the patients and caregivers who share their stories, the medical experts who contribute their knowledge, the advocates who amplify critical voices, the extraordinary Breastcancer.org team members who transform our vision into reality, and the generous donors and partners who make our work possible.
Together, we've transformed how people navigate breast cancer and have helped protect their precious lives. We are so grateful to you all.
250 Million People Reached Over 25 Years

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Tools To Help Manage Treatment Side Effects
In 2024, more than 1,400 people took part in our insights survey, helping us shed light on the often-overlooked challenges of breast cancer treatment, from the widespread impact of physical and cognitive side effects to critical gaps in long-term care discussions and support. Our findings underscore the urgent need for better communication, more referrals to specialists, and trusted resources like Breastcancer.org to ensure patients feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout their care.
"I've learned so much about the various treatments and the side effects of those treatments. This knowledge will inform my treatment decisions."
— Mary Jane, Breastcancer.org community member

Our four-part special series takes additional steps to help people better understand, anticipate, and manage treatment side effects.
Experts shared what to expect and how to prepare for short- and long-term side effects at our webinar on managing chemo side effects.
Certified cancer trainer Sami Mansfield demonstrates exercises to help reduce side effects in a series of short videos.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Breast Cancer News Hub Helps Combat Misinformation
We launched a new breast cancer news hub to cover current news, events, research, and policies related to breast cancer and breast health. People can find trustworthy information on topics spanning from day-to-day issues to public health policy. Our news hub combats misinformation and brings Breastcancer.org's award-winning expert reporting to current events and breast cancer trends.
"The news this year has been a little overwhelming — there has just been so much of it. And so many of the changes directly affect breast cancer care, from clinical trials shutting down to insurance coverage changing to community health centers losing funding. But what does it actually mean for you? Even our experienced reporters were struggling to keep up, so we knew we had to help our readers make sense of it. Our news coverage takes the fire hose of information and breaks it down so you know how it affects you, your care, and your community — and hopefully we make it all a little less overwhelming in the process."
— Amy Karafin, Senior Director of Content, Breastcancer.org
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Powerful Collaborations Deliver One-of-a-Kind Resources
To ensure people receive the care and support they deserve, we are building strategic partnerships with medical experts and advocacy organizations. Together, we’re expanding a trusted collection of resources designed for people navigating the complex realities of life with breast cancer — resources that go beyond standard information by blending expert medical knowledge with compassionate, human-centered guidance.
"LOVE that the doctors care and take time off their super busy schedules to help us going through a really difficult period of our lives. I really appreciate you all!!! I feel like I got better prepared for what I need to ask my plastic surgeon and breast surgeon in preparation for my breast mastectomy and reconstruction."
— Breastcancer.org community member
Dr. Joe Straton, senior medical director for the complex care management program at Tandigm Health, joined a special meetup to discuss the benefits of palliative care pain and symptom relief.
In partnership with ArmorUp for Life, we hosted Real Talk: Healthy Body and Mind After Breast Cancer Treatment to help people learn how to manage anxiety and stress, stay active, and find a balanced, healthy lifestyle.
Triage Cancer CEO Joanna Doran answered questions about how people with metastatic disease can best navigate health insurance and disability issues during a special meetup.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Building Bridges Beyond Treatment
Our community discussion forums and virtual support groups create safe spaces for people to connect, share experiences, and receive emotional support from others facing similar challenges. As the need for accessible breast cancer support continues to grow, we're continuing to expand our free resources to serve members worldwide with compassionate, professionally facilitated conversations that address misinformation while fostering genuine connection and healing.
"I really appreciate having a metastatic support group, as our outlook is different from early stagers. I get most of my support from this group, as friends and family cannot understand what I go through on a daily basis. It's a wonderful space for support and understanding, and being able to share what we go through makes me feel less alone."
— Allison, Breastcancer.org community member

Our community discussion forums serve as a vital support network where 250,000+ registered members connect for emotional support, share treatment experiences, and contribute patient-reported insights to research that improves breast cancer care.

Breastcancer.org's free virtual support groups connected more than 6,785 participants this year, providing professionally-moderated peer support and expert health information to people facing breast cancer worldwide.

We collaborated with Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance to expand our virtual support group offerings to include a monthly metastatic lobular breast cancer group.
FUNDRAISING HIGHLIGHTS
Partners in Hope, Community in Action
Our generous partners support our mission and showcase their commitment to breast health and breast cancer education throughout the year. Here are some highlights from the year.
Our third annual Women in Media and Marketing Awards Luncheon welcomed actress, podcaster, and survivor Jenna Fischer as a special guest speaker, along with 350 industry professionals, raising more than $480,000.

This year, A Day in the Garden celebrated its 10th anniversary with 10 Years in Bloom. The day included a special conversation with Dr. Kim Einhorn and a garden of creative table displays cultivated by our generous hosts and their guests. View the photos to experience this beautiful event.

Our amazing fundraiser community showed up strong this year, bringing people together by hosting events like paddle tournaments, 5K runs/walks, fitness classes, birthday parties, shopping events, denim days, and so much more! See some of their inspiring stories.
More than 6 million Walgreens customers showed their support during Breast Cancer Awareness Month by rounding up their purchases at checkout. Additionally, Walgreens pharmacist Ashley Patrick, PharmD, shared expert insights at our October webinar on managing treatment side effects.

There are many ways to partner with us, and Prime Prometics, a pro-age beauty company, did just that by donating a portion of sales in honor of World Health Week, sponsoring two of our fundraising events, providing in-kind product donation, and sponsoring an educational webinar.

Through their annual October Together campaign, USLI engages 1,200 employees and clients in breast health and breast cancer education and activities to benefit Breastcancer.org. Their creative fundraising efforts include an online auction, pet photo contest, and 1 Month, 1 Percent, 1 Fight, through which the company donates 1% of new business premiums to Breastcancer.org.
"USLI has a long-standing relationship with Breastcancer.org because of their passion and commitment to making a real difference in the lives of millions of people across the world affected by breast cancer. They remain focused on gathering resources and educating individuals on how to make the best decisions for their treatment and care and how to reduce the risk of a breast cancer diagnosis."
